Hantsweb Awards for Website Excellence
10th October 2002

The Emsworth Stroke Club website has won the top award in the Hantsweb Awards 2002 "Voluntary and Community" category. The event was organised by Hampshire County Council's award winning Hanstweb team to recognise website excellence in the County. In all there were over 500 nominations, 62 of which were in our category.

The award ceremony took place on Thursday the 10th October at the Theatre Royal, Winchester, in the presence of the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, Commander Miles J. Rivett-Carnac RN DL.

The Voluntary and Community Award was presented by Tom Bennie, MD of ntl:broadcast. Hampshire County Council and ntl:broadcast were co-sponsors of the event, which focused on websites which communicate the best online information and services to the residents of Hampshire.

The judges were looking for websites that were:

  • Hamphire based
  • work well and are easy to use
  • accessible to all
  • contain relevant, useful and up-to-date information
  • provide a useful service to their audience
  • demonstrate good design skills

The category was judged by BBC's Radio Solent presenter Judy Goodlet who runs an IT Training and Consultancy company. Her comments about the website were:

"A very elegant, understated but comprehensive site - it makes you feel you want to join the Club or participate in some way (even if you haven't had a stroke!)."
