Suffering a stroke, or seeing the changes it brings in someone you love, can transform your life. The trauma leaves you isolated, confused and even angry. It leaves a sense of bereavement for the life and independence, which is suddenly lost. The effects of a stroke may be temporary or last for years. Recovery may seem painfully slow, requiring sustained determination and support.
